Posted by During our recent trip to Utah, we drove to a location that is really in the middle of nowhere.
It took us 4 hours driving back and forth from where we were staying to get to this place. However the trip to this site offers a beautiful and unique scenic adventure, bringing to mind the world of the Wild West and cowboys. Though it is not much of cowboys but rather of “indians” or more appropriately referred to as Native Americans. This place is home to the most populous Navajo Indian Nation, and this valley is protected as a Navajo Tribal Park.
The name of the place in Navajo is “Tsé Biiʼ Ndzisgaii,” pronounced “tsʰépìːʔ ǹtsɪ̀skɑ̀ì,” meaning valley of the rocks.
This spot gained considerable popularity when in the movie Forrest Gump, the main character played by Tom Hanks, after running for 3 years, 2 months, 14 days and 16 hours, suddenly decided to stop, leaving his faithful followers astonished. He turned around and said: “I’m pretty tired. Think I’ll go home now.”
Have you wandered far away from home? Maybe it is a rhetorical question, or maybe it’s not. Wherever home may be, maybe it’s time to go home.
That’s what we did after – we went home.
