One morning, after I returned from my morning run, I spotted a fawn quietly lying in between the bushes on our front lawn.
Do you see it?

But where was its mother? Was it abandoned? Or did something bad happened to its mother?
The fawn did not run away either, even when it sensed my presence. It just looked at me, as if begging not to be disturbed. Was it injured?
Then I checked on Google, and it says that it is not uncommon for a mother deer to leave their fawn for a few hours while they forage for food. They leave it in a “safe” place where it hidden from predators, as it may not be fast enough to run along side its mother. If the mother does not come back for 10 hours or more, then it is probably abandoned. Google also said that if the fawn is crying and the mother does not return, then it is probably abandoned too.
But the fawn was not crying. It just laid there quietly.
We kept on checking on it for some time, hoping that its mother will return to take it with her.
Then we had to go out to help with our local food pantry, and as our car pulled away from the driveway, we still spotted the fawn laying there.

When we came home, the fawn was gone!
Most likely its mother took it to some other place. We were glad that it was just ‘fawn alone’ (like home alone), not abandoned.
What a lovely day for you finding a fawn in your garden.🥰
