Happy Thanksgiving

After migrating and residing in America for a couple of decades now, I have a better understanding of what this holiday celebration is. Of course it is always associated with turkeys and all the overeating, as well as parades, and even football. I’m still not a fan of turkeys but I may be indulging in the overeating part. I have enjoyed watching football now too. But what really is this holiday all about? It is giving thanks whatever our circumstances may be.

This Thanksgiving, I’m on-duty, so I will be spending it in the hospital. I will be taking care of patients in the ICU – people who obviously are having a rough time this holiday season. But my team and I will make sure that we do our part, so we can help them in their healing process and onto their road to recovery, that they too will have something to give thanks for.

For all of you who will be gathering around the dinner table with your family and friends, just remember that there are a lot to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving! And go easy on the turkey y’all.

  1. Happy thanksgiving, dear friend! Thanksgiving Day 1987 will always be memorable to me as I was schooling in Ft Benning then, away from the family. I had left my pregnant wife with her parents. That Thanksgiving, i got a telegram advising me that my wife had given birth. It would be another 8 months before i would see my son, Carlo.
