Rock City

Some weekends ago, we went to Chattanooga Tennessee to attend a wedding. Even though our time there was short, we were able to squeeze a visit to a nearby tourist attraction, the Rock City.

This site is at the border of Tennessee and Georgia and sits atop of the Lookout Mountain. It is said that you can see 7 states (Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Alabama) when you stand at their overlook.

Here are some of the magnificent views from this place.

Walking around this attraction, you will cross several bridges, many of which are stone bridges. But there is one long hanging bridge that sways with the wind and vibrates up and down as you walk through it. Bouncing on the bridge as if it is a trampoline adds excitement to the experience, except that you’ll get a death stare from other pedestrians who are on the bridge with you.

There are also beautiful pathways that are under those bridges that you can venture around. So I would say, there is lots of adventure under the bridge.

Some passageways are under heavy boulders that are balanced over “flimsy” support (photo below). It is cool to rest under the rocks but it is definitely not a place you want to be if an earthquake happens.

As we explore this rock garden, there are spots that we have to go through tight spaces. We did went through tight situation, literally. I included a video below, of a passageway that is called “Fat Man’s Squeeze.”

Below are some statues that I saw in this garden. One is standing on top of a ledge, while another one is sculpted under a huge rock. He is condemned to carry a heavy load.

Here’s another funky statue. Oh, I’m sorry……that’s me!

There are also enchanting waterfalls in this place. Though I believe the falls are not natural but are man-made. They are beautiful nonetheless.

Below is a video of the waterfalls under the rocks (note: there is music that you can hear while wandering around this place).

To put it succinctly, this place rocks! And we certainly enjoyed our visit to this fascinating place. From Rock City,
