I witnessed history a few nights ago.
The hottest shooter in college basketball today (or of all times) in men or in women is Caitlin Clark. Her range is incredible, it’s really Stephen Curry-esque. Before Thursday night game, where the Iowa Hawkeyes battled with Michigan Wolverines, Caitlin only needed 8 points to break the NCAA women’s basketball all-time leading scorer record, held by Kelsey Plum at 3,527 points.
Knowing that the possibility of breaking that NCAA record was almost sure, I had to see this in person. So I got myself and my wife tickets for the game, which was held at Carver-Hawkeye Arena in University of Iowa. The last time we were in this arena was when I witnessed my daughter marched for her graduation in her master’s degree, which is a historical event in its own rights.
We came early so we could settle in our seats ahead of the big crowd, plus I knew the parking in the site would be difficult. The Hawkeyes team was drawing record crowds where ever they go these days, not to mention that the tickets are extremely hard to get and getting pricier too.
We were early enough to catch Clark warming up before the game. Here she is shooting from the logo.
After some time of watching the players stretch and warm up, it’s was time for the game to start. Video below shows the Iowa team being introduced and with the Hawkeyes Fight Song being played by the band.
After the game started, it took just 2 minutes and 12 seconds and Clark broke the all-time scoring record, after scoring the first 8 points for the Hawkeyes. It was just fitting that she broke the record with a shot from deep-three or from the logo, which is what she is known for (video below).
Right after the shot, a time-out was called for her to celebrate the moment. Video below.
That was just the start of the night for Caitlin, as she kept on going and scored a total of 49 points for the game, which is a personal best for her and the Iowa women’s basketball record for a single game. She also dished 13 assists that night to lead the Hawkeyes to win against the Wolverines.
Photo below was Clark being interviewed by many TV network. It was indeed a historic night.

By the way Caitlin is going, she is on track to break the all-time NCAA basketball scoring record for both men or women, which is currently held by Pete Maravich at 3,667 points, which is ONLY 98 (at the time of this writing) points away for Clark.
Go Hawkeyes!

She’s now a global figure. And she’s still in college! Wow! She’ll be like Lebron when she joins the wNBA.
She already changed the the way women’s college basketball is being watched, and definitely put Iowa in the map.
