Green Waters

I know St. Patrick’s Day is still two months away wherein the celebration is highlighted by everything green. There are places that they even color their rivers green. Like in Chicago, every year during St. Patrick’s Day, they dye the Chicago River a shamrock shade of green.

During one of our travels last year, we saw a stream of water that is colored green. Like a neon green almost, and it was all natural, not artificially dyed. It was not due to radioactive toxic waste also. I believe the green coloring was caused by an algae bloom.

It really look like we were in a different planet. We did not dare wade in it, for who knows what kind of alien life was lurking under it, and we definitely would not drink it. I would say though, that green waters was beautiful and interesting to look at.

The color green is associated with rebirth and renewal. It can also symbolize wealth and prosperity. Here in the US, the paper bills, the dollar, is colored green, so it is easy to understand why the color green is associated with money. So when someone says, “I need some green badly,” they don’t mean they want more vegetables. What they need is money.

It is not too late for me to greet all of you a prosperous new year. May you have a continuous stream of green, and may your fortune bloom like a green algae bloom in these waters.

If not, I guess we will still survive. And at least enjoy this cool photos of green waters.

Have a purposeful new year everyone.
